There’s a job-skill mismatch issue. Here’s a dose of reality: there are job vacancies out there. Unfortunately, qualified individuals for those positions are hard to come by.
The cost of living isn’t getting cheaper. Every day, there’s a product or service that’s more expensive today than it was yesterday. What’s worse is that people’s incomes aren’t increasing. So, any budgeting plan we had last month probably won’t work this month.
Every job is an opportunity to enhance your “market value.” Whether it’s in your chosen field or not, every job can add valuable experience to your resume. You can learn new skills and pick up new knowledge along the way, which will benefit your career in the long run.
As Steve Jobs said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” While this is a wonderfully inspiring quote, it doesn’t apply to everyone at every stage of their careers. It’s more important to learn to love what you’re doing, do it well, and never lose sight of what you want to achieve in the future.
